Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how ResiGrade (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website and services.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly. When you create an account, write a review, or contact us, we collect information such as your name, email address, and any content you submit (including reviews, ratings, and correction suggestions).
Verification documents. If you apply for Verified Resident status, we temporarily collect a residency document (such as a utility bill or lease) solely to verify your eligibility. This document is permanently deleted immediately after a decision is made.
Usage data. We automatically collect certain technical information when you use our services, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and pages visited. This data is used to operate, secure, and improve our platform.
Cookies and similar technologies. We use session cookies required for authentication and site functionality. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate your sessions.
- To publish and display reviews and ratings you submit, subject to our content moderation policies.
- To verify residency status when you apply for Verified Resident designation.
- To process profile claim requests from building owners and managers.
- To respond to your inquiries, support requests, and feedback.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To analyze usage patterns and improve the quality and features of our platform.
- To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal obligations.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
Service providers. We use third-party vendors to help operate our platform, including Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), and Resend (transactional email). These vendors access your information only to perform services on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Public content. Reviews and ratings you submit may be displayed publicly on ResiGrade. If you choose to submit a review anonymously, your name will not be shown; however, the review content itself will be public.
Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of ResiGrade, our users, or the public.
Business transfers. If ResiGrade is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information and submitted content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Verification documents are deleted immediately after an approval or rejection decision is made — they are never retained long-term.
If you delete your account, we will remove your personal profile information within 30 days. Reviews you submitted may remain on the platform in anonymized form unless you specifically request their removal.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your information:
- Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: You may update or correct inaccurate information through your account settings or by contacting us.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information.
- Portability: You may request an export of your submitted content.
- Opt-out: You may opt out of non-essential communications by following the unsubscribe instructions in any email we send.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@resigrade.com.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and access controls that restrict which personnel can view sensitive data.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
ResiGrade is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at privacy@resigrade.com so we can delete it.
8. Third-Party Links
Our platform may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you by email or by a prominent notice on our platform.
